ABOUT
ME

I
was born in July 1928 in Elderslie and reared in a theatrical
background and share my birthday with Sir George Bernard
Shaw, Dame Helen Mirren, Kevin Spacey, Mick Jagger, Danny
La Rue and Christopher Dean.
When
two years old, my parents moved to Ralston where we lived
for forty-seven years.
Educated
at Paisley Grammar School.
As
a small boy, I trained as a Highland Dancer.
Served
in the Royal Air Force from 1947 to 1949 as a National Service
conscript.
In
March 1950, I joined Associated British Cinemas as a Trainee
Manager at the Waverley Shawlands and completed six years
service as Manager of the Grosvenor Hillhead in December
1955.
The
next ten years was spent in industry.
In
September 1967, I joined the Savings Bank of Glasgow as
a late entrant and spent the next twenty years working in
various branches, retiring from the Gourock Branch in October
1987.
I
also trained as a Physiotherapist and, after service in
the Bank, I worked as a Paramedic in St. Joseph’s
Nursing Home in Lochwinnoch tending the disabled and infirm
from 1988 until 1993.
At
the age of 67, and after a 39 year career in Amateur Drama,
I turned professional in 1995. Since then I have been working
in television, film, voice-overs and community radio.
